What do Parish Councils do?
As elected representatives of the community, a council seeks to enhance the Parish for the enjoyment of the community. The Parish Council has responsibilities for assisting maintain various facilities, roads and pathways within the parish and to ensure the safety of the wider community who are using them.
What’s the role of a Parish Councillor?
We have 7 seats on the council, and members are supported by a Parish Clerk.
The council meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month in the evening, to consider items of business and make decisions for action.
The council also has one Human Resources committee, that meet as required.
Councillors are also involved in other ways on a voluntary basis.
Whilst Parish Councillors are volunteers, they may claim expenses as necessary and full training is available.
Could you be a Parish Councillor?
We are seeking an applicant, who can give a little time to Parish Council activities. Parish Councillors need to commit to a minimum of 2 hours per month to attend the Parish Council Meeting and in addition a few more to assist with new projects around the village.
Councillors will ideally also need to be IT literate and have facilities to access emails and documents sent via the internet.
